Eligibility
The USAPA National Tournament is a sanctioned pickleball tournament open to all players. USAPA membership is required.
National Tournament Format
All events in all divisions will follow a double-elimination format where losers in the upper bracket will continue to compete in the lower bracket until they lose a second match. Players who win all their lower bracket matches will compete for first place against the winner(s) of the upper bracket. All upper bracket matches will be the best 2 out of 3 games to 11 points, win by 2 points. All lower bracket matches will be 1 game to 15 points, win by 2 points.
Age Divisions – November 1-4, 2010
Age groups are 19+, 35+ and the senior division starting at 50 and going up in 5-year increments (50+, 55+, 60+, etc.). Age group eligibility for doubles and mixed doubles will be determined by the age of the youngest player on the team. If there is only 1 entry in an age group, age groups may be combined. In that event, teams or players will win awards in their own age group.
Open Division – November 5-7, 2010
This division of play is open to all players regardless of age. Registrants will be asked to identify their level of play by self evaluation or tournament ratings: 5.0 or better, 4.5, 4.0 or 3.5, with 5.0 or better being the top rating, 4.5 being the next level, and 4.0 being the next lower rating. Please contact the Tournament Director if you need help determining your rating. Ratings are used only for seeding. The brackets are not divided by skill level.
Open division winnners will receive trophies and cash prizes.
Junior Division – November 6-8, 2009
Age groups will be “18 and under,” “16 and under” and “14 and under.” If there are not enough players, age groups may be combined. In that case, the top three players in each age group will win awards in their own age group.
